Reader: external wordpress sites not showing images

  So when I add a self hosted wordpress site to my wordpress.com reader, it does not show featured images from those blog posts. Why is that and is there a fix?

  What is the URL for the exact free hosted WordPress.com blog you are referring to please? BTW the answer is there is no “fix” as nothing is broken.

  I’m not. I’m talking about pulling in a feed from and external self-hosted wordpress blog. It only pulls in the title and text, not the featured image.

  Right, and why does that concern you? Presumably we all want people to click into our sites to view/read the full posts and not just look at excerpts or thumbnails in the Reader and click like buttons there. They may make us feel warm and fuzzy but likes are not page view stats.

  Only in that other native wordpress.com post have their featured images show up.

  As WordPress.com blogs are part of this blogging community and as the featured images in them are uploaded onto WordPress.com servers one would expect that.

  In contrast, self hosted WordPress.org installs are not part of this blogging community and their featured images are not on WordPress.com servers.
