Reader feeds are not working, can't see or 'like' new content
-
Today the reader is not working and I can’t see any new content in the feed even though the websites I follow sent email updates of new articles.
I get an annoying pop-up that says, “that site has not posted anything recently”, suggesting I follow others.
Readers that follow my blog told me they cannot view my website posts in their WP reader either.
Is this some new form of censorship?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The Reader is working fine for me. I’ve also checked your account, and all the sites you’re following are showing up in your Reader feed, and we haven’t blocked you from liking any posts.
Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies yet? Also make sure that third party cookies are enabled in your browser.
As for your posts not being visible, the last post published on your blog was https://reidedwards.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/a-guide-to-freedom/ published in November 2016. Your posts won’t be showing in the Reader any more at this point, as the Reader shows the most recent posts only in a person’s feed, and by now there will be hundreds of posts more recent than those from your site from other sites those people are following. If you publish some new posts, your followers will once again see them in their Reader feeds.

Thanks for your response.
There are still no new posts showing in the reader even though today I received email notifications saying there were new posts and can see new posts on the websites I follow.
I can provide a screen shot to show what I see if that will help. As said above, whatever site I click on in the reader, I get the same message: “that site has not posted anything recently”.
I use firefox and the browser and computer are cleared after each use.

Can you please check if posts are appearing in the Reader if you log in using a different browser?
-
I’ve had the same problem with my reader. It started last week. I follow quite a few sites here but the strange thing is the notification about there being no new posts only seems to show up on 3 sites with the most frequent postings, where there’s new content every day.
I can’t follow these sites from the reader at all now so I’ve subscribed for email notifications.
I use Tor and I’ve also tried chromium. The result is the same.

Can’t access the reader to see feeds or the classic editor to post new articles. WP fix this.

Hello @ajustworldforall, did you try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies as mentioned by @kokkieh above as well as making sure that 3rd party cookies are enabled? Here are more browser troubleshooting suggestions https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
@newworldrisingchronicles – Staff and forum volunteers can better assist you if you open your own forum thread at https://wordpress.com/help/contact
-
If it’s only specific sites, can you please give me the addresses for those sites so I can take a look?
Keep in mind that TOR by default blocks JavaScript and third party cookies, and WordPress.com need both of those to be enabled to work properly.
@newworldrisingchronicles
This sounds like a different issue. If you’re unable to access certain pages on WordPress.com, please clear your browser cache and cookies, check that third party cookies and JavaScript are enabled in your browser, and also check if a different browser or a different internet connection helps.
For more help, please start your own thread as @justjennifer asked above.

I have a Linux system that includes regular firefox and tor in the package. I can’t add another browser. to test I made adjustments (where possible) to cookie and java script settings and always clear the cache, but the fact that only certain sites are blocked in the reader suggests something else might be wrong.
The sites show for a second before an overlay pops over it saying there is no new content.

I can see the most recent posts from those sites in your account’s Reader feed:
https://cloudup.com/ciSZvxepjF3
If I follow those sites I also see them appearing in my own feed.
Where exactly are you seeing this pop-up? Can you provide a screen shot of it? You can use a service like snag.gy to share a screen shot in the forums.

@ajustworldforall
I can see the most recent posts from those sites in your account’s Reader feed:
https://cloudup.com/ciSZvxepjF3I get the same view when I first log in to WP but when I click on each website I follow a very annoying pop-up appears on 2 of the sites.
I took a screen shot of the popups and posted them here:
ajustworldsite.wordpress.com/2018/02/07/website-posts-blocked-by-annoying-pop-up-in-my-wordpress-feed/I seems to me someone decided to censor these websites. It’s not my computer or browser. It’s WordPress.
-
We don’t censor websites. If they were being censored you wouldn’t be able to access the sites at all, and they wouldn’t be appearing in the main Reader feed at all. Sometimes stuff is just broken and looking for a hidden agenda behind it does not help anyone determine the cause so it can be fixed. So let’s focus on the facts and proper troubleshooting rather than making accusations based on assumptions.
Based on your screen shots and your reply here the issue is not with the Reader feed, but with the individual site feeds:
https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/4184718
https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/88363
However, the alternate blog feeds for those sites are fine:
https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/39302395
https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/24949656
This sometimes happens if a site’s address changes at some point and the feed isn’t properly transferred to the new address. I’ll ask our Reader team to merge those feeds, which will fix the problem. Meanwhile nothing prevents you from reading those sites in the main feed in the Reader.
-
Hi kokkieh,
I wonder how the address could change when the website urls are the same as before. I can see both feeds with the urls you posted. Is this something that will work itself out over time?
-
As I said above, I’ve reported this to our Reader team to fix.
I also did not say the addresses changed. I said that is the most likely cause of this problem.
-
Today 2 more sites I follow are blocked in the reader feed by the same “no new content” pop-up even though there is new content:
https://redpowermedia.wordpress.com/
https://warriorpublications.wordpress.com/Yet another site that hasn’t posted new content for months opens to show all content over the past several months???
This problem must be affecting many websites and has just gone unnoticed.
-
Thanks for letting me know. Someone was looking at this today. I’ve added these two sites to the report.
