Reader isn't loading! plus can't access my profile, etc.

    I can’t see my reader today from either of my laptops. I use Edge on both.
    I cleared my browser history out and I still can’t access my reader.

    I’ve tried accessing my profile. It won’t load either.

    I have been able to access my admin page, but that’s all. I was updating categories on my site and they were updated, but I was getting odd error messages such as “cheatin’ uh?” – what does that mean? I was just updating a category name.

    Only the admin page works – nothing else will load.

    I don’t know what to do next.

  • Hi there,

    Clearing browser history won’t do much – all that does is clear the list of sites you’ve visited in your browser. Can you please try clearing the cache and cookies instead? You can find instructions to do that here:

    While you’re doing that, also make sure that JavaScript is enabled in your browser:

    Also unplug your modem/router for a few seconds to flush its DNS cache, as something getting stuck there can cause this problem.

    That’s what I did. I followed the instructions from the support page for edge. But, I have since switched my browser to chrome (sigh) on both computers and no longer have problems. I think it’s Microsoft. Edge has all kinds of isues at the moment. Thanks for your help, though.

  • That’s strange. I’m not aware of any other reports regarding this problem on Edge. Did this start after a Windows software update?

    I am having the same issue with not seeing the posts in Reader. I use Internet Explorer 11. When I tried Edge, the posts appeared. On my work computer, IE 11 did not work, but Mozilla Firefox does so I would say not a computer issue.

    Maybe it has something to do with the updates being pushed by Microsoft?

    I put the screenshot in my media library. If you can figure it out, that would be great, but Edge has been a problem for me since last summer.

    There have been issues with Microsoft edge disappearing from computers after an update (happened to one of my laptops in August), then suddenly it reappeared after another update sans favorites. Then the other laptop lost my favorites (which was supposed to be in the cloud) and the first computer got them back. This new issue with WordPress is just another reason to move to Chrome – although it means giving my soul to google. :)

    Thanks for the screen shot, but it appears you took it in Chrome, not in Edge, so it’s showing me your Chrome browser’s info, not Edge’s :)

    This new issue with WordPress is just another reason to move to Chrome – although it means giving my soul to google. :)

    You could always instead use Firefox (though it’s a power-glutton) or Opera, but if there’s an issue in Edge we’d definitely want to try and fix it.

    Please try the browser troubleshooting steps I suggested in my first reply here. If that doesn’t help, please create your own thread as @timethief asked above, as this thread is specifically about the Reader not working in Edge, which you say is working for you.

    ooops. Sorry. I took that one down and hopefully I put the right screenshot up. I also took a screenshot of what my reader looks like. It partially loads.

    That’s the way it looked yesterday, but, now I just checked this morning and my reader is loading properly. I did have a windows update last night.

    So now everything seems okay with Edge and my wordpress site. Thanks.

    Thanks for the advice on Firefox and Opera. I’ll look into those. :)

  • Yay! That’s excellent news. Sounds like Microsoft may have temporarily broken something in that case – based on your screen shot most likely something with how the browser handles JavaScript.

    Should this happen again, please let us know.
