"Reader" listings
-
There seems to be a new format in the “Reader” and, when the post’s link is clicked I am taken to a screen that reveals only that post and not the blogger’s site page. There are no side bars available for additional info on that blog so I have to “jump through hoops” to get to their blog to proceed. This is NOT acceptable as a resource.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are still some updates happening. Have a look at https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/reader-refresh/ for more details.

The “NEW READER” is an awfull innovation to all users. Uncomfortable and full of difficulties that I do not need. Who is that innovation made for ???
-
-
For an instance: I seem not to be able anymore to add or delete “TAGS” that I would like to (un)follow.

I have been testing the trouble with tags, and so far I have found it is only limited to one browser in my testing.
If you are having trouble adding or deleting tags in the Reader, can you please tell me your browser and OS version? I will look into it.

@companybeat, thanks again for reporting this and also for providing your browser version for me! I tested the following browsers and was only able to reproduce the problem myself using Firefox 39.0 on a Mac (it worked on Windows for me).
Chrome 43.0.2357.134 on Mac OS X 10.10.4
Firefox 39.0 on Mac OS X 10.10.4
Safari 8.0.7 on Mac OS X 10.10.4
Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1
Chrome 43 on Windows 8.1
Firefox 39.0 on Windows 8.1I reported the issue to our developers for review.

The new Reader format DESTROYS poetry by condensing, forcing, raping the lines of poems (mostly what I follow) into paragraph form. This is horrible.
-
@mrsorenson, we’re planning to make that work better, but I am not sure exactly when. Sorry for the trouble!
@companybeat, I’ve been testing tags a TON this morning, and now they are working for me, even in Firefox, both Mac and Windows. I’m not sure what the trigger is yet on this one!
Now I’m not convinced it’s a browser-related problem, but I am still trying to figure it out. If anyone else is having trouble adding tags, can you please post a comment here noting your browser and OS version? And if you can think of anything else you might be doing differently compared to others when you add a tag, that may be helpful too. I’m looking for a trend among people who have reported the issue. I have seen 3 reports about this so far, so I don’t think the problem is widespread.
-
Adding tags still only works when typing in the new one manually: https://wordpress.com/tag/new-reader for instance.
-
Okay, I tested adding tags in several browsers back when you first reported this and I saw the problem only in one. Then I reported it to our developers and we couldn’t reproduce the problem. Also, very few people overall haver reported this issue that I have seen (I think I saw 3 reports total in all of the feedback I have reviewed in the past 2 weeks). Based on what I know so far, I haven’t been able to nail down a reliable set of steps to reproduce the problem. I just re-tested again this morning from Firefox 39 on Windows 8.1, and adding tags using the form in the left sidebar at https://wordpress.com/ is working for me.
Because I can no longer see the problem you described happening in my own testing, I will need help from you (or from someone else experiencing the same problem) to help provide more information.
First, can you please try to clear your browser cache as a basic browser troubleshooting step?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cacheYou also do need to make sure you are using an updated version of Firefox. Earlier you mentioned you were using Firefox on Windows 8.1 and the latest version of Firefox is 39. Can you make sure your browser is up to date?
http://browsehappy.com/If that doesn’t help, is there any chance you can try from a different browser on the same computer to see if the problem happens for you on more than one browser?
-
I am surprised. To answer your questions:
1. My Firefox is up to date.
2. My OS (WIN 8.1) is up to date.
3. I tested IE 11 on the same machine: same problem.I might have to live with it.
-
To make sure, did you try clearing browser cache?
Also, do you have any browser add-ons that might be causing interference by any chance?
-
Is anyone else here in the forums having trouble adding tags in the Reader? If yes, please let me know your browser and OS versions!
-
“And if you can think of anything else you might be doing differently compared to others when you add a tag, that may be helpful too.”
I simply type in my tag “xy” and click on the “plus”-sign to it’s right. That’s it.
