Reader not showing all blog posts.

  I go to my reader and only see the last few hours of posts. Am I mistaken in that the reader would show all new posts from 24 hours or more? As I go back and individually visit blogs there is a lot more going on than what is being shown in my reader. Is there something I need to do on my end?
