Reader not showing new posts from blogs I follow
-
HI!
I do understand the issue. However, with each example you’ve provided, I am able to see the latest post for that particular blog in your Reader when logged in. For example, I combed through some of the examples you provided here and randomly selected a few to check (Thanks for the detailed list!!):
Here are the blog posts I looked for and the image of them appearing in your Reader:
Blog: https://lanilongshore.wordpress.com/2015/03/18/chocolate/ (http://d.pr/i/18nxq)
Blog: https://hersey97.wordpress.com/2015/03/16/wont-you-come-and-play-with-me/ (http://d.pr/i/1fNzU)
Blog: http://unconfirmedbachelorette.com/2015/03/22/spirit-bear/ (http://d.pr/i/13LNf)
Blog: https://hayleyisrising.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/week-three-of-no-social-networking-march/ (http://d.pr/i/Tib)
Blog: http://dddangerous.com/2015/03/17/best-free-apps/ (http://d.pr/i/1gfLB)
I’m yet to find a blog that you follow where the posts do not appear in the Reader after I scroll down to the point that the post should appear. In order to troubleshoot this issue, I’ll need to find a post that isn’t appearing in the Reader, which is why I’m asking for more examples. I understand this is incredibly frustrating, but I’m unable to find a post right now that fits the issue.
I believe this might be a result of the number of blogs you follow. In order to find some of these posts, I had to scroll down quite a ways. As @lizthefair previously suggested, it’s likely not going to be possible for you to catch every blog post that goes through the Reader (there are just too many!). For that reason, we would recommend using email subscriptions for the absolutely pertinent blogs that you want to guarantee you receive notice for.
Are mine the only ones you are investigating? As there were other bloggers who also said they were having the same problem.
Other users experiencing this issue no longer had the issue after refreshing.

I believe there are lots of bloggers experiencing this issue. I am still experiencing the issue and have been following along with what oldamoon has been giving you. I went to look and found several posts I had missed from two or three different blogs. Again, hit or miss. Again…I scroll through my Reader several times a day. I always close the tab. i have even started logging in and out. I also refresh now every time sometimes more than once.
Also, I am finding that sometimes people have un-followed me that did not realize it or the same for me. The Reader also told me that I was following a Blog that is not in existence on WP any longer. I read on a blog last night at least 35 other people are having these same exact problems.
I do not have the ability to continue to go through and do what oldamoon is doing. I have a migraine disorder that makes that just too difficult. Oldamoon has fibromyalgia and I applaud her for how much she has done. The Reader is and “following” as well as notifications is continuing to have glitches.
I do appreciate the volume of bloggers that go through WP, but these would seem like an overall glitch issue for each issue to me. It is happening to many, even if they are not writing on this forum. I just wanted to make you aware of this. So that you would not think it was resolved. It is not. I am not sure if it because of the constant changes and updating that WP is doing, I could not begin to guess. Or is it that bloggers are using the WP app on their phones at the same time as their PC? What I am referring to as for myself above is happening on my laptop. I use my phone only to check my notifications when they come through and I am not on my laptop. However that is meaning the app is active. These are the thoughts I can think of, but again, I am not technical in these things, but I have tried everything else.
The concern I have aside from the above things mentioned is that if I cannot see those posts, others are not seeing mine.
Thank you and I hope this information helps and you can think about the information and contemplate what may be causing these glitches. I would not be one to help you with links, but I can again confirm it is happening with many.
Thank you again.

Hi @cccchanel41,
Thanks for your input! If you have an example of a post that is not appearing in your Reader during the appropriate timeframe, it would really help! As I explained earlier, I’ve been unable to track down a post that is missing within the blogs that @oldmamoon has provided.
-
Have the bloggers who commented at the start of this thread all confirmed that the issue was resolved when they hard refreshed? Because I can’t see where they have said this.
Agreed, they might not have returned to the thread, but that doesn’t mean their issue was resolved.I have again today seen people commenting amongst themselves that they arent seeing all the blog posts from blogs they follow, not even in tag searches.
This problem is happening A LOT.
I don’t understand how previously missing posts now showing up means there is no problem. Surely you would be looking into this issue at a deeper more technical level?
Here’s the thing – 25 blog posts from an approx 24 hr period did not show up on my reader. I ONLY knew they hadnt shown up because they all showed up on my mobile reader. And only then because of all the other posts that my android reader wasnt showing.
But the fact is – once I am aware they WERE missing, it’s only because they have now been seen. So, the point in time that the problem actually occured has been and gone. Whatever it is in the ‘mechanics’ of the reader, it is obviously working when you go look. And I wonder if the fact that you look via my blog means they will be seen as my blog has already been and seen them – to be able to report that it was missing in the first place, at all.
So, there seems little point in me providing any more links to “missing” posts, because by that stage, they are no longer missing.
I do hope I am making sense here.
I do refresh the page. It hasn’t stopped this issue from occuring.
Regarding using email instead – then what’s the point of having the reader?
Like most people, I do not like subscribing by email because of the unmanageable amount of emails this would produce, and some blogs I follow posts more than once a day.The reader is, in my opinion, one of the treasures of WordPress. It is a feature that is just ideal. But only when it is working properly. When it isn’t, it loses it’s value, and users lose trust.
The amount of blogs a person follows is down to personal preference, surely?
Also – the entire world of blogging has it’s foundations in having followers. Everywhere you look, even in Blogging101, we are encouraged to follow other blogs. It’s blogging at its most basic. So please, do not imply that by following a lot of blogs I am causing the problem myself, because that is counter-intuitive and a bit like a vegan working in a butcher’s shop – it makes no overall sense.I apologise for the caps – they are used for emphasis, not to imply I am shouting. But I am frustrated, as I am sure you can appreciate.
I follow blogs because they are of interest to me, and I want to read what is posted. I am no different to any other wordpress blogger in this respect – apart from the fact, maybe, that I am concerned enough to come to the forum to post about it, and follow it through.
But this is happening to a lot of other people. And they are just the people that notice. Chances are there are thousands of people who simply don’t notice. It does not mean the problem isn’t there.
I don’t know that providing more links is really going to help. Maybe opening a ‘test blog’, following a large number of blogs and experiencing it for yourself is the only real way to see it? I don’t know. Clutching at straws here LOL

I am having the same problem. It seems that people just fall off my list of followers in the reader. I would like to keep up with them, that is why I followed them. Thank you. Patty Alcala

Hi! I’m still seeing issues with this, as is my boyfriend who blogs at http://www.irritablepixles.wordpress.com, he never sees my blogs on his reader and doesn’t even follow a lot of people!
I seem to miss a few of the blogs with a lot of followers, or the starting out blogs. When im at a computer I shall compile a list but I haven’t really seen any changes as of yet

I posted screen grabs of my evidence of what is happening:
https://j9tigger.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/problems-with-wp-reader/ -
The Reader has become very undependable. Many of the blogs I follow are not showing up. I use Reader everyday – and have tried varying the time of day I read thinking maybe people are posting at different times – but no. They are MIA. I scroll all the way back to where I stopped off last time. If it wasn’t for a list I keep of blogs I like and for email notices (which is a nuisance as they really clutter my in box) I would lose people and blogs. VERY frustrating.
-
I have noticed for a couple of weeks now that some blogs I follow have disappeared from the reader. It’s frustrating because I enjoy reading posts from people I follow and now in order to do that I have to constantly check each blog individually by going to their page and that is how I know they have posted in the past days. I really hope this problem gets fixed since I also noticed a decrease in views and follows.

I’m having the same issue. I’ll receive an email to say that one of the blogs i follow has a new post. I go to my reader, click the orange rectangle at the top of the feed which says X new posts, they all appear. However i scroll down to find the one i got emailed about and it’s not there. A day later i go back and scroll down to the previous day and the post has since appeared.
One blog i know this has happened with is http://www.1dad1kid.com. i went into this blogs individual feed on my reader and saw that there was a post 3 days ago, but never saw it appear in my reader.
I went back to my reader and scrolled back 3 days and it was there. So posts are being published, but not appearing in the reader straight away. But leave it 12 – 36 hours, scroll down to where it should have been and it will be there.

Hi all,
Thanks for the additional reports. Please know that we’re not trying to neglect the problem; it’s simply hard to investigate a problem that doesn’t appear when we look. The additional reports seem to confirm that there might be an issue somewhere along the chain, and we are taking a look.
A few points:
– While you may receive an email notification for a post, the post may not appear right that second in your Reader. The Reader can take a bit more time to update than the email subscriptions.
– When you notice this issue, can you do the following:
1. Clear you browser’s cache. Instructions on doing that can be found here:
2. Do a hard refresh of your browser (rather than just clicking the “New Post” notification at the top). On Macs, this can normally be accomplished with Command + R. On Windows, this is normally Control + F5.
3. Scroll down to the point where the post should appear.
Please let me know if the post does not appear at that time.

After following the advice to clear cache and hard refresh in Chrome, the screen grabs of today:
https://j9tigger.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/wp-blogs-i-follow-feed-weirdness-continued/ -
This morning i received an email notification about http://theorganisedhousewife.com.au/ having a new post up: Fun Easter Crafts for Kids. The email notification says it was posted at 6am my time (Brisbane Australia), however it’s now 4.5 hours later (10.30am) and it’s not in my reader’s feed of blogs i follow.
I followed the instructions above, but the most recent blogs i’m seeing in my reader all say they were posted over 5 hours ago.
I’ve scrolled down to check yesterday’s posts and sure enough, a new one has magically appeared in amongst posts i read yesterday, this is it: http://icurvyworld.com/2015/03/wednesdays-wild-about-marsala/
I know for certain that this post from Icurvy was not showing in my reader yesterday afternoon (about 3pm – 4pm is when i was reading my reader).

Hi everyone,
Thank you for the continued examples. I had a discussion with the devs that work on the Reader, and they confirmed that this is a known issue with how we get new posts when you open up the Reader. We’re in the process of fixing it, but the fix involves quite a few steps so I don’t have an ETA right now. The best solution I have at the moment is to use the refresh/cache clear method mentioned previously. This should resolve most errors. Although as I suggested before, email is a guaranteed way to make sure you’re receiving posts from critical blogs.

I have one blog so far that my posts are not showing up on. Have only noticed it on this one blog. I cannot respond and even shut down and rebooted.

Hi @finallyawriter,
It sounds like you’re referring to something a bit different. Could you open a new thread so we can take a look? You can do that using the link here:

I too am having this problem. My newest blog legorealm.wordpress.com is not showing up in my reader.
