Reader view not showing all comments
-
One feature of the previous Reader view missing in the new incarnation is the ability to see all of a post’s comments. This was helpful when reading blogs whose themes split comments into pages, or which didn’t show the Like button, or which didn’t show responses so cleanly, or whose mobile theme was unreadable, or…
Point is, the new Reader view is significantly less usable, and in a completely unnecessary way.

Hi @jcsalomon, can you share a screenshot of an example, or send a URL for a post that’s giving you trouble? We’d be happy to take a look.

Compare (for example) http://accordingtohoyt.com/2015/11/04/the-rise-of-the-self-insertion-fic-lawrence-railey/ to the Reader view of the same post at https://wordpress.com/read/post/id/17344431/7545. Many of the earlier-begun threads are not visible from the new Reader view.

Thanks, I think it’s just not expecting comment threads quite that long. I’ll dig a bit and let you know what I find out. :)

Alright, I’ve confirmed that the current version won’t display that many comments, but it is something we’re working on for another release. You should still be able to quickly load up comments for most threads for now, and if you need to see more, you can click through to the site. I hope that helps!

The thread I used as an example got a bit larger than I’d remembered; this issue is still present on pages with far fewer comments.
Glad to hear this is being worked on. Can you give me an approximate estimate as to when I should expect to see a change? (3 months, 6 months, a year, two years?)
