Why can't my readers leave comments?

  Intermittent – I was unable to leave comments, and days later was able to leave comments, but when I deleted those comments and changed the content of the message being commented upon, the message “Comments are Closed” appeared.

  I was going to delete the whole site and start over, but I don’t want to lose my URL; it appears from your warnings it will be blocked forever.

  I have left a similar message with Support about 3 days ago with no reply.

  Please check this guide to make sure that you haven’t inadvertently disabled comments on the post or page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

  If not, can you please link us to the page where comments should be appearing?

  I got it working, for now. In addition to setting “Allow comments” in the Discussion module, I found that I needed to set the flags in the Quick Edit module to allow comments.

  Now there is a new problem, after fixing the “Allow comments” problem. In the Edit Post feature, I cannot edit the text in the big edit block, but I CAN edit the text in the title of the post. And, after hitting the Update button, the time of the update does not change, indicating that an update does not occur. It just won’t listen to me.   After leaving the above post at 7:53 PM, I tried to create a new post. The Edit block will not allow me to add any text at all, though I can add text to the Title. The “visual” display will not allow a cursor to appear and I cannot type; the “html” display will allow html, and when I switch to visual the text is proper but I cannot edit it in that mode, and when I go back to “html” the code is still there. How do I edit in visual text mode?

  That sounds like your browser may have a corrupt cache or cookie entry.

  Would you please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache?
