Readers can’t reply to posts with a comment

  I’ve had feedback from several readers saying they can’t publish comments to my blog posts. This has happened with new readers but also with readers who had previously been successful with publishing replies to my posts. I’ve checked all the settings to allow comments and can’t figure out what might be causing this issue and would love insights.

  I’m brand new to WordPress and not a techie person so pardon me if this fix seems obvious to you. Thank you!

  Are they sending that feedback by comment, or are they reaching out to you by email? Have they shared what happens when they comment?

  I also noticed you have a couple of duplicate requests here so I’m going to try to get those sorted.

  Thanks for the reply. I’m so grateful for the help!

  There are 2 things happening.

  1. When they type the comment in the comment text box, the letters turn to gibberish letters and characters and the box size is less than one letter size high so they can’t read what they are typing, nor does it let them delete the words they’ve typed. They can’t increase the box size either.
  2. A reader types the comment and upon publishing the Comment, it just disappears altogether

  Hi there,
  
  I am seeing several users successfully comment on your site since your original post. I am wondering if those who are having issues have something in common with the browser their using or some other setup. Can you provide the usernames of a few of the readers who provided feedback?

  Thank you. Yes it’s not every time. Users with issues are Ann Small and Linda. Ann has a wordpress account. Linda does not. Often Ann’s comments get posted twice or not at all (she’s dedicated so she keeps trying)

  So glad she’s willing to keep trying! Do you happen to know what kind of device she’s using (laptop, iPad, android phone), and what browser or app (Chrome, WordPress app, etc)? It can be tricky to catch intermittent issues, but hopefully with a few more clues, we can spot the cause.
