  my reading setting does not show front page displays. preventing me from creating a static page, front page -index and posts pages – chapters

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Just noticed your question, and I thought I would just mention that if you go into ‘customize’ your theme is usually where you set up a static or recent posting page first.. well I do it via that way.. then worry about the reading settings separately.

  As for index etc (and a custom menu) that’s via widgets..

  The reading setting is mainly for people viewing your blog, and how you want to display it..
