Reading settings

    I have set the amount of posts per page in my reading setting, however every time I add a new post, it keeps getting added to the same page – past the limit that I set. I have had a comment to my site by a poster who says that it takes too long for the site too load on his computer although it loads on mine just fine.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    If you visit your site then your browser probably has the pictures cached and you might have a lot better internet connection and faster computer – I counted about 30 posts – ran my DSL link for quite a while wide open, That is a lot of graphics to load. Not everyone

    What is your Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Blog pages show at most xx Posts?

    When you changed the settings did you Save Changes? (Button at the bottom) Many people overlook it.

    The new post ALWAYS shows up at the top of the blog; have you verified that older posts aren’t getting pushed off the front page? And as auxclass says,

    What is your Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Blog pages show at most xx Posts?

    Staff recommend less than ten.

    Just changed to a setting of 15 ( I had 25 set at first), and this worked. does it still take a while to load? Thanks.

    Then make it smaller. They actually recommend five, which apparently results in maximum reads.

    The other thing to consider is that the search engines, Google in particular, are now using page load times when calculating page rank for sites, so if your site loads slowly because you have to many posts with too many images or videos or what-have-you in them, that will reduce your page rank and search engine placement.
