  If I create a website through Word Press, will visitors be able to search homes on the website? For example the state of Il, will visitors be able to search homes in certain areas/suburbs of choice?

  It all depends on your setup. If you only have a few houses, you can display them portfolio style. If you’re looking to create a real estate agency website with house search options on the homepage, you will want to look for specific plugins or themes.
