Real-Time Image Editing Not Working & More

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello all,

So I don’t entirely find all the new changes to how WP functions completely user friendly. I have tried to ‘Save Changes’ to my pages as I’ve been working, only to find when I preview them nothing happens. If I try to exit it will tell me, ‘You will lose all changes if you exit now,’ and I know I’ve saved before and after getting that message. I have tried adding ‘Widgets’ to my sidebar only to have them go missing and be removed despite saving my changes yet again.

When it comes to Photo Editing, after I’ve uploaded an Image after inserting it into the body of a page, I cannot simply click on the image to access the mini-menu for the Image to edit it’s Size, it’s Paragraph Position, etc. It just ‘blinks out’ when I click on the image and if I try to ‘Hold & Move’ my mouse onto it, it thinks I am trying to ‘move’ the image. All I want to do is access the photo-mini-edit-menu.

Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas or workarounds I might try to get my pages to cooperate? I would be greatly appreciative, thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi gw3n4th3pe0ple.

I’ve check a few areas of your site like the image editor and widgets but I can’t see any issues that stand out. Do you run into the same issues when using a different browser or only with the one you are currently using?

If you haven’t done so already, please try clearing your browser cache:

Does that help or are you still having trouble?

Let me know how you get on.

Actually the blog it decided to list I didn’t get a choice in choosing. That is my regular blog and it’s not the one I am having the issues with currently. The blog I am having issues with is my, faeriegodmotherdesigns.wordpress.com
I first noticed these issues occurring in Microsoft Edge and followed your instructions, seems it still did not wish to work per clearing of my Cache. I opened it up in Firefox and I am able to FINALLY access the image settings for alignment and such when I click on the image to edit it. However, when I saved and then went to ‘Close’ at the top left of my screen, it told me there were STILL some unsaved changes. I don’t see how there could be “Unsaved Changes” if I saved prior to clicking on ‘Close’. So I am thoroughly puzzled.

@gw3n4th3pe0ple, sorry for the issues. Are you editing your pages from under My Sites at the top left of the admin bar?

If so, can you try editing through your WP Admin dashboard and see if there is an issue there: https://faeriegodmotherdesigns.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Hi Sacred Path, I was actually trying to find that feature again so maybe I could see if that could be a potential workaround but I was having trouble finding it for whatever reason. I’ll see if I can find it again just by how I found it the first time, click on everything, see what it does and then see how I can use it. lol Thank you.

Okay, so I found it thanks to your link (I saw that after the fact of reading it over the third time). When I tried this method, I select the image and it kicks me down to the bottom of the page as though I am trying to edit the text body, not the image itself. I tried this a couple of times with the same results. It just doesn’t want to cooperate. I’m wondering if I try to re-import the image using this main feature of the Admin Dashboard. I am going to try that and see what happens.

Okay, so update – When trying to edit the image that’s already embedded, I can’t remove the original nor edit it. I CAN add new media into the body of the topic, but I cannot edit what’s already there from using the newer updated Admin Dashboard vs. the Old Admin Dashboard, it just refuses to let me. I suppose the real issue is, there’s a bit of a problem between the Old Admin system and the newer one and how they should be able to ‘fluidly’ interchange and work together regardless of what I may be doing with my blog whether it is writing, adding pictures and editing them or otherwise.

Hi @gw3n4th3pe0pl, we have run into a few more reports of this behavior now, and have been able to reproduce it. A bug report is being written on this and hopefully it will be fixed very soon.
