Really?

I just want to be clear.
You are advertising on my blog.
In order for me to make ant money advertising on my blog, I have to pay you.
Is this correct?
Because one of the following will occur: you take the ads off, I get money from the ads with no obligayion on my part, or within a NY minute I will be on another platform.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there, WordPress.com runs advertisements on free-hosted websites in order to keep the “free” in free-hosted. They’ve been doing that since around 2006.
You have the option of removing all advertising from your site by purchasing any upgrade plan and both the Premium and Business plan upgrades automatically give you access to the WordAds program. Only the Business plan upgrade give you the ability to run additional advertising from reputable ad networks. More about monetizing your WordPress.com website can be found in our support guide at
If you want to run your own ads on your site, you may find that moving to a self-hosted WordPress install is your solution. https://move.wordpress.com/
Let us know if you have any other questions.

I have to pay you to stop making money off my content.
That’s extortion.
Let me do a quick search and find about 400 sites that will run my content ad-free for no money.

Hello again, Let me just add that if you are concerned about ads being run on your free WordPress.com site, your WordPress.com site content belongs to you and you can export it and move it to another web hosting provider. Here’s how you can do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
Finally, about posting to our community support forum:
We love positive and productive discussions, so please keep comments on the topics at hand and not on other members of the community. Thanks!
Again best wishes.

I was told I would be contacted by an actual representative from WordPress.
If by ‘other members of the community’ you are referring to yourself, yes, it was frustrating, and now TWICE, to be contacted by someone who cavalierly ended my 12-year relationship with WordPress under the authority of a volunteer forum whisperer.
Stop contacting me.

As saddening as it is you don’t wish for our support, as @justjennifer was just trying to help, you can request WordPress.com staff to respond to this thread by adding the “modlook” tag.
However, I just want to state that @justjennifer is correct when he states why this is the case, along with the solutions.
Thank you.

As @justjennifer already said, we display advertisements on WordPress.com sites, in order to keep free features free. We try to make the ads discreet and to only run them in limited places.
By upgrading to a plan you’re not just removing ads. You’re getting more features like a custom domain, extra space, live chat support, more themes, and extra customization options for your site.

Hello again,
I was told I would be contacted by an actual representative from WordPress.
Had you mentioned this in either of your earlier forum replies to me, I would have been glad to add the MODLOOK tag on your behalf. As @torres126 pointed out, anyone can add the tag to request Staff assistance to their forum query. Otherwise, our community forums are mostly a peer-to-peer support forum.
Just to address your comment to me (I assume), my replies were not intended to end your long-standing relationship with WordPress. You indicated that in your first post:
Because one of the following will occur: you take the ads off, I get money from the ads with no obligayion on my part, or within a NY minute I will be on another platform.
Free-mium models have a “cost,” which in our case is the advertising that WordPress.com displays on our free sites. As @fstat (Staff) mentioned, they try to run them only in limited places. Logged in WordPress.com users rarely, if ever, see them. It is also mentioned in our Terms of Service that all users agree to when signing up. It says
Advertisements. Automattic reserves the right to display advertisements on your blog unless you have purchased a plan that includes the removal of ads.
So hopefully our discussion has answered your questions and outlined your available options here on WordPress.com. If not, let us know what other help you may need.
