Really need help with calendar on my site

  It is pretty much impossible to search a blog post by date in my site. The calendar feature will only move one month forward or back, there is no way to move behind a year or two to search for a specific post. I am trying to assemble a series of blog posts since the beginning of my site and I made a list of all the dates of posts published, only to find out it is not possible to retrieve it using the calendar OR the search feature. I would like to have a calendar with a roll down that scrolls all the way to the beginning, easy to navigate – it that at all possible and how would I install it?
