Really need to embed a Google Fusion Map into my wordpress site. URGENT!

    Hi –

I am unable to embed a Google Fusion Map that I created into my WordPress site. I see from several other forum posts over the past few years that I am not the only one who is requesting this.

I need this very urgently for my PhD. I have to be able to publish my data for a conference presentation I’m giving next Tuesday, and I need to have this all in one place for my attendees to access during this presentation.

Could you tell me how I can do this, please? Can WordPress look into making this possible, given that you allow many other embeds from Google.

    Thanks

    Vicky

You cannot do this at WordPress.com, as you have already discovered. You can request it, but the functionality will not be added in time for Tuesday. That is not going to happen. You will have to host the web page with the map somewhere else: you might as well just use the link to Google Maps itself.

Do you mean maps or Google Fuison Tables?

Typo: Google Fuison Tables=Google Fusion Tables

I think @snappyhapper is using one of these: https://support.google.com/fusiontables/answer/2527132?hl=en

Very cool! I’d love to see your actual map. It looks like you’ll have to follow @raincoaster’s advice and host it publicly on Drive and just link to it on your site (if it’s possible to share a mashup of two different apps like that).

    Hi both,

Thanks for answering! I’ve had to go the long way round, as suggested above, and host this on Google Drive. Frustrating because I wanted to be able to drive traffic to my blog. But there we go.

galois – this was a Google Fusion Table, but I want to show the map that the table generated. This is possible to publish as a stand-alone item, but WordPress wouldn’t accept the embed HTML for the map either.

I’d seen lots of previous posts complaining about this, but wondered if this had been updated from WordPress’s side to enable Google Fusion Table embeds. It seems not.

Could I therefore urge WordPress once again to look into this. While I have been able to find a work around this time (which doesn’t benefit WordPress at all!) I’m sure there are loads of others out there who would make use of this in the future. Cheers :)

    That’s an excellent suggestion, @snappyhapper!
