Reapply default content after starting over with new theme

    I started building my website with the theme Russell but have realised that Ixion works better for my purposes. I would like my website to be given a fresh start so as to reapply all the default content of Ixion. I am not proficient with WordPress and this default content is very useful.

    Can I reset to default content myself?

    I contacted the Help Centre explaining the problem and asking for the website to be reset with the default content of the new theme. In her reply the support staff said that she had noticed that I had activated the new theme but she provided no response to my question. I replied explaining the problem again but haven’t received any response.

    Any help on how to proceed would be most welcome.

    Generally speaking this is not necessary. The process of changing your theme is comparable to changing the clothing on a mannequin. Your main content, whether pages, blog posts, or uploaded media, aren’t drastically altered or moved; they simply conform to the style of the new theme. 

    One exception is the homepage template, as different themes approach setting up the homepage differently, so the settings of your old theme may not apply. With that said from what I can see in visiting your site now, it is using the Ixion theme and appears to be set up nicely. I see posts displaying on your homepage template as expected. Nicely done!

    Can I reset to default content myself?

    Yes this is possible but also very permanent. There is no way to un-do the deletion of content, which is the primary reason we don’t recommend it unless you truly plan to start over. You can see our guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/empty-site/
