someone reblogged an image from my media library. How do they have access to it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anyone can reblog any image you publish on your blog in a post. Does the image appear in any post on the blog?
-
I don’t know if this is a security issue as my images were not created by me, yet I received a comment that another blogger reblogged a photo from my media gallery. This image is not attached to any of my posts. How could this happen?
-
-
It can’t. No one other than an official user of your blog who is an Author, Admin or Editor can access your Media Library. Does the image appear anywhere else online?
-
is there any way you can see what happened? I received an email form the blogger. How could I forward it to you?

We Volunteers do not p[rovide support by email. I also note you have a raft to Tree tunnel images that appear on many other sites – pages of other sites. You reblogged it from http://ourcloudlounge.com/2013/04/06/top-10-tree-tunnels-of-the-world/ and you placed this on the post (c) Linda Ruthen 2013.
I tagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

http://lindalitebeing.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=818 is a the media file’s public attachment page. They could have found it via Google (or similar) or a post that linked to it.

I used reverse image search and discovered the image you are on about is copyrighted work http://muench.photoshelter.com/image/I00006yXnM0bbCaQ
Lye Brook Wild Green Mountains

Now we are getting somewhere. I never said I own the original image. My concern is someone getting into my media library files. people google things all the time and I typically give credit on my posts when I know the source. In this case someone reblogged it and commented to me about it . Otherwise I would not have known or cared.

Are any of the images on your blog under your own copyright?
Are all the images that are posted on your blog posted with the prior permission of the copyright holders and in accord with any Terms of Use they may have stipulated?
-
Yep, no one got into into your media library, they just reblogged a publicly visible media attachment page.
-
Note what I said above re: Lye Brook Wild Green Mountains and if you are not David Muench, Muench Photography Inc. then you are violating his copyright. by posting that image anywhere at all with his prior written permission to use it in any form.

I don’t know why you are focusing on this because I was concerned about my site security. I have not posted it anywhere on my blog. What I will do is delete it from my media library as I have no intention of violating anyone’s copyright.
-
and I typically give credit on my posts when I know the source.
You need to get up close and personal with copyright law. Without prior permission of the copyright holder on any digital work (print. image, audio, video) it doesn’t matter a flying feather or a fig if you attribute the image you help yourself to. The permission to use it from the copyright holder has to exist in law first and if is doesn’t then you are breach of copyright.
