Rebuilding an existing site in WordPress, but don’t want it to go live yet.

  How do I rebuild a site I previously built in another program without uploading it to the web before I am done? I don’t want my previous site to be taken down until I’m ready to switch it to a new WordPress site, but WordPress is asking me to change my domain with GoDaddy before I even start on the new site. (It will have the same domain name as before.)

  Hi there,

  There is no need to change your domain until you’re ready.

  Just create your WordPress.com site using the free address we provide instead – on the domains step don’t type in your actual domain, but just a key word so you will see a free WordPress.com subdomain suggestion. You can build your site at that address and only switch over your actual domain at the very end.
