Recalling post notifications

  Hi

  This morning I imported posts from another blog and changed their status from Pending Review to Published to have them integrate. Unfortunately, this has triggered a notification to be sent out for all 76 of the posts.

  Is it possible to recall these notifications please?

  Also, I would have thought that importing the post – all dated in the past – wouldn’t trigger notifications. Can you please explain this?

  Sorry to hear that, @cecgraemesmith. I wish we could take them all back for you.

  When you have notifications enabled, we send them out the first time a post is published on a site. After that, even if you change the status to pending and back, it’s permanently marked as published and won’t send out notifications again.

  Usually folks import already-published posts, or they’ll publish for-review posts one at a time. I think our system just didn’t expect the method you used. If you’ll let us know what site you imported from, we’ll look into this more. Thanks.

  Hi @supernovia, thanks for explaining this.

  I imported the posts from the now deleted edinburghliteracycalendar.wordpress.com. They were imported as Published, so I set them to Pending Review, so that I could edit them. I then selected all and changed to Published, which triggered the notifications.

  Would I have been better changing to Draft?

  I didn’t see the option to Import as X, which I think was available previously.

  Oh it’s not an option. I assumed you had marked them as pending on the old site, then imported, then published. That’s helpful information, though, so thank you for sending more details. Again, while I can’t really do anything to undo the notifications, you’ve made us aware that this could happen. I’ll let our developers know so we can hopefully find a way to prevent this for others.
