Hi there,
We do not offer CAPTCHA filtering on WordPress.com sites by default, instead our comment system and form block use our built-in Akismet Anti-Spam filtering by default. This system is already silently discarding the worst and most pervasive spam so you never see it. You can confirm your anti-spam settings here: https://amyschislerauthor.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=akismet-key-config
More info here: https://jetpack.com/blog/what-is-spam/
With this in mind, you don’t technically need CAPTCHA, and in most cases we do not recommend it. CAPTCHA can be effective at blocking spam but it can also sometimes block good traffic if users struggle with its code as it’s displayed or if they have visual impairments or script-disabled browsers.
Our advice would be to try the built-in spam filtering first. Any responses it identifies as spam will be held here for moderation so you can flag any that are “good”: https://amyschislerauthor.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=feedback
Also you can mark anything that slips through as “spam” which will help train our filters and block future occurences. If for some reason you find spam to be an issue that our filtering is not able to control, we’re happy to advise further. You can also add CAPTCHA via a plugin: https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=captcha
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
