receiving communication & images

  I’m trying to set up an art blog. I want artists to send me images of their art, so I can post it- or not. Here are my questions-
  Do I need a separate email for images & communication to be sent to? Then download the image & post it on the blog? Or is there a way for people to privately contact me through the blog site?
  Is there an optimum size and format I should ask them to send their images in?
  Is there anything else I should know? This is my 1st blog & I have no idea what I’m doing.

  You could have the artists submit their work through a contact form:

  However, that form doesn’t accept incoming file submissions. So, the artists would need to upload the images to something like Dropbox and then provide a link for you to visit and download the work.

  Another possibility would be to make your email address known on the site. You can setup domain-specific emails for this purpose. We offer two options: 1) Email forwarding 2) Third-party integrations. Using either of those, you could set-up something like submissions-at-oddflock.net.

  Is there an optimum size and format I should ask them to send their images in?

  The format question really depends on how you want to proceed above. Regarding size, I would ask for something larger than 1280 x 416. That way, if you ever wanted to use them as header images on the Hemingway Rewritten theme you’re using, you could (1280 x 416 is the minimum size requirement). 1280 x 1024 is also a popular image size. That would give you some wiggle room.
