Receiving emailed updates from a site (seetheair.org) I never subscribed to
-
Hi all,
All of a sudden I’m receiving updates about new posts on a WordPress site (https://seetheair.org) at my university email account, as if I were subscribed to it. I’m not.
I’ve used subscribe.wordpress.com (careful to use the exact same email that’s receiving the posts from this WP site) with an emailed login link, and I’m not subscribed to any sites with that email address.

The only reason the university email has a WordPress account associated with it at all is (probably) because of Gravatar.
I could just create a mail filtering rule to delete the messages, but this seems like something somebody on the WP.com side would want to know about, as there are (at least for the moment) federal requirements in the US for being able to unsubscribe from unwanted emails in a straightforward manner. So it could be a legal/regulatory problem if it’s happening to other users or other sites.
Thanks for any advice.
