receiving excessive email notifications

  I had set it up a few years ago to stop email notifications for another blog in which I am a contributor and it worked great. Now, out of the blue, email notifications for every comment on that blog are showing up in my email. I’ve got the notification settings so that I shouldn’t be receiving them, but they keep coming! Arrrrrg.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  What’s the blog, and what’s your email address that you’re getting them to (the email will appear as redacted in the public forums, but I’ll be able to see it)?

  Can you please link me to one or two of the comments you’ve gotten an email about?

  Hmm. You’re the author of that post, and as far as I know, anyone who authors a post gets notifications of all comments on that post. I’m wondering how you turned them off before? Contributors don’t have access to the Settings->Discussion area that would enable you to do that.

  Were you maybe an administrator on that blog in the past, and then changed to a contributor? Or had you ever checked the ‘Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com’ option here:

  It was so long ago that it’s possible the administrator of the blog changed a setting for me. Would it be wiser to ask the administrator to change the Settings->Discussion email notification for me or do you think I can just ‘Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com’ option on my account?

  Hi there,

  The administrator doesn’t have that option. You can block all email updates, but then you won’t get any notifications from WordPress.com at all. Instead, I’d recommend creating a filter in your email program for those comment emails so that they don’t go right into your main inbox.
