Hi @ noseafoodworld, that’s pretty normal if you leave both sites active.
You can migrate followers periodically using this tool:
http://jetpack.me/support/subscription-migration-tool/And you can get a site redirect if you’d like to point all traffic from the old site to the new one:
https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/Alternatively, you can simply make the old site private under My Site > Settings.
I recommend making it private rather than permanently deactivating the site so you can see whether taking it down affects your traffic and what not.

By leaving the site private, rather than deleting it, you’ll know where the traffic is coming from. Does that make sense?
