Recent Changes to Press This (and other features)

    Is there a way to be notified of changes to Press This, and other features? Either in advance (preferable) or at least when the changes are made?

    A long-winded explanation of what I tripped over.

    The version of Press This that was active for years was deprecated and then removed late last year. (I only found out about it when it was actually removed – I believe as part of an effort to eliminate JavaScript.) It would have been nice to know when it was deprecated.

    Then the version that was launched at that time stopped working this week, and with a little investigation, I was able to determine that a new version had been deployed. But since it is a shortcut in my toolbar, I only found out about it when the old version stopped working.

    Is there an email list, or a forum topic, or a blog I should be reading/subscribed to in order to get notified of these changes? It is a little annoying when things stop working with no notice. In this case, I had initially attributed the failure in Press This to changes made to my anti-tracking/ad-blocking/privacy-enhancing regimen. Having to diagnose something that this in the dark is shall we say frustrating.

    So I guess the lack of response means, “No.” Or maybe “Hell no.” Communicate changes? (current or upcoming) “Why would we want to do that?”

    Hi,

    You can enable “Update Notifications” by going to

    https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/updates

    and choosing Suggestions and News there.

    Then you will get news and updates by email.
