Recent Comments Widget Not Working?

  The Recent Comments widget does not seem to be pulling comments from my posts. I know the widget has worked on this blog in the past, but it isn’t working now. This is a project where I am posting several of the comments myself, so is there some filter that discards author comments that I need to be aware of? Please help!!
