How do I display “recent posts” with their featured image as a thumbnail in the sidebar?

Hi there,
You can do this by adding a new Text Widget and entering the Display Posts Shortcode in the widget. To have that shortcode display a featured image thumbnail along with the post title, you can use this code:
[display-posts image_size="thumbnail"]Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi – I am not sure where to enter this code to get the result. When I create a new text widget in the Sidebar, and enter the code as you have given me, it displays the code wording… I must be doing something wrong. Can you give more detailed instructions?

If you paste that exact code into your text widget, it should work as-is. Could you send me a link to a page where it isn’t working right so I can take a closer look? That’ll help me figure out what’s up so I can give you more specific instructions (or investigate it if there’s a problem with the code). :)

OK I got it now… but the thumbnails look pretty big… can they be shrunk at all? – this is on http://sv-takeiteasy.com home page.

Sure thing! The thumbnail size is determined by your blog’s media settings, under Settings > Media in the blog’s dashboard. You can change the thumbnail size there, and the thumbnails on your blog will change accordingly.
