Recent posts and links will not open until front page is viewed

Links and Recent Posts widgets do not display when opening my site. I cannot find any reason for this. Appreciate any help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All themes here will display a default display that appears to contain a sample set of widgets in the sidebar and/or footer when you have not yet added any of your own. Go to Appearance > Widgets and add the widgets you desire and configure them and the default display will disappear.

Widgets have “visibility” settings so we can select which pages they display on. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
