Recent posts not showing on Home page

  Hello,

  Since January 26th, I’ve made two blog posts. Only the post from January 25th shows at the top of my Home page. See blog http://www.partofaplan.com.

  You’ll notice I have a “Recent Posts” widget on the right-hand side bar and there are two posts that came after the one on the Home page. I can’t figure out why they’re not being displayed.

  I have tried adjusting “Settings” > “Reading” to show latest posts. I’ve cleared my browser’s cache and cookies. I’ve done everything I can possibly think of. I even checked the timestamp on each post. Everything is correct, but the new posts still aren’t showing.

  What is wrong?

  Hi Zach,

  With your theme, Twenty Fourteen, any post that you tag with “featured” will appear in the featured section at the very top of your front page. Any post featured there will be omitted from the regular post flow below, so it doesn’t show up twice.

  Does that explain what you are seeing? If not, can you please provide a bit more detail?

  That has never been the case before. Whenever I would make a featured post at the top, it would also show below. Only recently was it impossible to have my posts show in both places.

  But I just tested it and you’re right. I guess I can live with that, although I don’t like that design.

  Hi Zach,

  Hmm, as far as I know Twenty Fourteen has always worked that way. Were you using a different theme before? Some themes have featured posts at the top and an option whether to show or omit them from the post flow.

  Nope. I have been using Twenty Fourteen the whole time. Now, maybe there was a bug that let the post show in both places and just got ironed out now, but ever since I’ve had the template, I have been able to have a recent post show in both places.

  I can live with it not showing in both places, but only for the past few days could it only show on the featured banner OR the feed.

  Hi Zach,

  That’s odd, I’m not sure what was up before. But the theme is intended to work the way it’s working now, and I don’t believe that will be changed.

  One thing you could do as a sort of workaround would be to only use the featured section to highlight your older posts that have already dropped off the front page. Then, your new posts would appear at the top of your post flow, but the featured section would still be populated.
