recent posts removal from pages
-
i’m wanting to remove “recent posts” as they appear on the bottom of added pages. so far i have 5 additional pages and 3 of them don’t show recent posts at the bottom, but the other 2 do. i’m sure i didn’t set it that way. how do i remove them from the bottom of my “about” and “contact” pages? thanks!

Don’t use the Showcase Template on those pages and the Recent Posts will disappear. This article will be helpful > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/05/04/workings-of-duster/

Try putting “Recent Posts” widget to the main Sidebar instead of footer area and see if this fits you.

@timethief I wish i was a Staff member. I’ve been using WordPress for many years so i thought it’s time to offer some support :-)

@timethief the comment
Please feel free to clarify what I posted above re: Showcase template.
P.S. I’m having a rotten day so far. I wish I could go back to bed. :(
was concerning me or @justpi or both of us?

@geot: The correct reply to designbysmith’s question was timethief’s. In this case the Recent Posts section isn’t a widget, it’s part of the (optional) Showcase template. The widget would look different, and if a footer widget had been added there would be no auto scrolling on the main page of the blog, there would be a “Load More Posts” tab at the bottom.
Similarly, in this thread:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-is-my-front-page-showing-an-out-of-date-quote-showing-a-link-too-long?replies=11
you suggested trashing the post then checking for featured posts: neither of the two had anything to do with the OP’s question. And even if featured posts had something to do, one could see that there were no featured posts on that blog: a featured post would be visually differentiated, and the sourcecode would say “sticky”.Before answering a question, you must be sure you understand what the issue is, check things in the user’s blog instead of making wild guesses, and be familiar with the features of the theme in question.

@justpi thanks for the answer. one minor objection on the second case here and i won’t keep the conversation since it is irrelevant with the subject. OP’s problematic post i thought was sticky but he/she changed the theme afterwards.i’m saying so because it had a different color on Suburbia theme. Anyway your intervention was welcome and as i said before i won’t keep this conversation active since it’s irrelevant. I’ll try to make better suggestions from now on :-)

@geot: Thanks for realizing I was only being candid, not hostile. Some users have difficulty telling the difference…
If you wish to help here, you need to study good replies in these forums, familiarize yourself with each theme, learn to search the sourcecode of a blog for clues, and also use a test blog to make experiments, test your assumptions etc.

thanks for all the “appropriate” help. however, i didn’t find anything referring to the “quick edit” option found under each page under “pages” dashboard link. that’s where i found the template option. changed from showcase to default. boom!
-
The template option can also be found in the Page Attributes module of the regular page editor. So Edit or Quick Edit doesn’t make a difference: the point was that you had to edit the pages and change the template.
-
@justpi: i must be missing something, but i don’t see any option to change the template under the regular “edit” option. i can only see that under “quick edit.” i’m using twenty eleven theme. i’ll keep digging at it. meanwhile, i found it and got it to work. thanks!
i have one more question though. probably should be another topic, but how do i remove that gray bar over my header? i set my background as white and my header fills the entire area. thoughts? -
1) See here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/
But it doesn’t matter: Quick Edit is, well, quicker!2) You can’t remove the grey admin bar without the Custom Design upgrade, and anyway WP doesn’t allow removing it, because it’s not part of your blog, it’s part of the wordpress.com system (when I visit your blog, the admin bar allows me to access my dashboard etc., not yours).
