Recent problems with comments

Sorry if this has already come up. I did a search first but didn’t find any mentions.
Is anyone else having problems with comments on wordpress.com blogs lately? When I leave a comment on someone’s site, it times out. I get an error message saying the server at <URL> has stopped responding.
It happens every single last time I comment for the past week (or maybe a little more). If I click “back” I find my comment still there and I can submit a second time and it goes through on the second try. It’s very frustrating as you can imagine.
What’s changed?
If I reply via “notifications” there’s no problem but of course that only works for responses to previous comments.
P.S. Argh! It just happened to this query, too. Which made me remember that sometimes I just get a blank screen.

Here’s the message: it says
“Safari can’t open the page <URL> because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes and then try again.”
Except it’s consistently happening every. single. time. I try to make a comment on a wordpress.com blog (or this support site).

Exactly which version of Safari are you using please?

It’s: Version 7.0.5 (9537.77.4).
The cache clearing hasn’t made a difference. It’s still happening.

Hello there Bronwyn.
I’d like you to try two tests for me:
1. Please attempt to comment using another browser, such as Google Chrome. Let me know if you have the same issue with timing out.
2. If you do continue to time out, can you attempt to comment using another wifi? I’d like to determine if it’s a browser, or wifi issue, and your testing will help me troubleshoot.
Do you have any time out issues with any other websites besides .wordpress.com sites? Have you been able to comment in the past? If so, when did this problem begin?

1. Google Chrome seems ok (just made 2 comments ok).
2. I’ve had the same problem using different wifi with the same device, but not with other devices. (Hence I thought clearing the cache might help… I also switched it off and switched it back on again! :) )
The problem only exists for wordpress.com sites and then only when I post the comments at the comment box on the bottom of a post. I can post reply comments on wordpress.com sites via “notifications” just fine. I’ve been commenting fine up til two weeks ago.
Let me see if this response posts without hassle now…

Oh wow! It just posted fine, first go. I’ll comment using this browser again and let you know if I run into the problem still.
Not sure why it would fix itself suddenly after two weeks…

I suppose we shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. However, if the problem arises again, let us know. Also, while turning on/off the computer sometimes seems silly, there are some updates to your OS and applications that do require a restart in order to take effect. It’s not a bad idea to try that at all!
