Hi @mimy2788, will you please make that page private ASAP?

If that spam comment page is public, ironically it could be drawing more spammers because they think their message is going to get out there one way or the other if they post it on your site. Plus, if you’re showing off what they got spammed for, you’re actually just training them how to work around filters.

Quietly training Akismet is the way to go, whenever possible.

Also, curiously, do you often unspam comments that Akismet caught? Sometimes spammers will say something that sounds genuine but is still just a part of their game.

Wel, my blog doesn’t get many spam comments now and it’s under another page, both no one looks at. To be honest, I had a different aspect of it, although I understand your point. I do not unspam comments, unless if they are from a follower or is actually related to the content. I am very strict about it, so about 99.9% of the time I don’t unspam them. Even if they did manage to “work” around the fiters, the comments will never be on a post.

To be honest, I kinda did feel offended since it was my work and I had a different point of view. I could add a password to the page, but I surely will not be taking it down.

Apologies if I offended you for being offended…

I think you should know why I created it in the first place, but since then, no one looks at it much. It’s one of the least-viewed pages on my blog (there’s probably less than 15 views for it) and the blog rarely gets any spam comments that pass through. I’m pretty sure no one looks at it, even if I tell them to and all spam comments were on posts a few months to an year old instead of on the recent ones. The frequency is lower than what it used to be before making that page, and is even lower now (after putting Akismet to “strict” some months later and allowing comments from non-WordPress users only during the times I’m on WordPress).

I have to admit, you sounded pretty offended at the beginning, making me feel offended. I’m apologizing again and please ask me more questions if you have any. I want to help you understand my point of view, so feel free to ask me here or email (if you know it).

That page is a minor topic, but I mentioned it because it was related. I will still be adding updates about notification glitches and future issues with spam comments and likes.

Apologies to anyone if the replies have been getting a bit off the first topic.

Something not inportant: I saw how there’s the “@” infront of usernames in some replies, but I don’t know if it makes any difference when adding it. (How to do the strikethrough in HTML?)

Omg, nevermind that last question in my previous reply. I did the strikethrough, but I thought I used an incorrect HTML tag… Oops.

I’ll just stick to my usual style, since it’s working right now.
