Recipe Blog

Hi, I’ve just started a recipe/healthy living blog and was hoping to use the free plan for a year or so and see how it develops (whether I’m any good or not really and people like my stuff).

But I can’t figure out a way to get a recipe template without upgrading to the £3 a month plan. Does anyone know if this is doable or shall I just sign up now? I am concerned about having to transfer all my recipes over again when I eventually do get my stuff together too.

I quite like the look of the Kale theme. I’m also learning HTML, CSS and Javascript if that helps with your recommendations.
Any other advice from other recipe bloggers welcome too ! Thanks

    Hello!

Couple of quick questions. Is this the Kale theme you’re referring to? https://wordpress.org/themes/kale/

If so, that is a WordPress.org theme meant for the self-hosted version of WordPress. You can use the theme with anaturallife.wordpress.com, but you would need to upgrade to the Business plan. The Business plan gives you the ability to upload third party themes.

Otherwise, you will need to pick a theme from the current WordPress.com theme collection. If you find a Premium theme that you like, you can either purchase it for the prices listed by the theme name OR upgrade your plan to the Premium plan. The Premium plan gives you access to all of the Premium themes at no additional cost.

If you’re not too sure about the upgrade, WordPress.com offers a 30 day refund policy to make sure you love everything.

Have you looked at the support document on using the recipe shortcodes to format your recipes? Perhaps it will help you work within your chosen theme.
