Recipe Plugin
-
I just updated one of my posts with the recipe shortcode (love the plugin) and it worked, but the spacing of the ‘servings, timing, difficulty’ headings overlap each other, and the print button hangs outside of the recipe box. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Here’s the link to my post:http://wp.me/p2Rdcx-59
Thanks.

Hmmm Sophie from http://sophiesfoodiefiles.wordpress.com hasn’t posted here yet so I’ll give her a poke.

@yogilinh, thanks for including a specific post link. That is helpful. From what I can see in your post “Is Broccoli Making a Come Back?,” there’s a conflict between the Yoko theme design and the recipe shortcode. I’ve reported it to our theme developers to see if they can help fix that. Hang tight and someone will reply back here after the issue has been reviewed.
Aside: that recipe looks delicious! I’m probably going to try it this week. :)
For anyone else who finds a display problem with a theme like this, please post in the theme forums at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/themes instead of in the ideas forums. It’s better to have problem reports in separate threads so the conversation doesn’t get lost in an active thread that’s about something else. Thanks so much!

@designsimply thanks for reporting it to the design developers. I’ll standby for their response.
Hope you enjoy the recipe! :)

LOVE this new shortcode. Question – does anyone know how I would go about changing the background color of the box that is created? My blog has a light background color and I’d love to have the recipes in a white box when they are used. I have the Custom Design upgrade, just not sure the proper coding.

Howdy yogilinh! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ve fixed the recipe display bug with Yoko. Cheers!

Thank you very much for this plugin which I have started using today. Looks very nice and it is simple to use.
Here’s a link to how it appears on my website: kookycookyng.com/2014/02/08/recipe-template-for-simple-indian-chicken-curry/

Sorry, here’s the link: kookycookyng.com/2014/02/08/recipe-template-for-simple-indian-chicken-curry/

I am so NOT computer savvy and embedding a short link is confusing me!
Can someone please share the details in easy to follow steps! I have about 40 recipes I would love to make as printer friendly recipes. I see a plug in mentioned but is that actually the short link? -
The instructions are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/recipes/ It’s easy peasy.
-
Since I am going back to recipes to edit, where do I start putting the code??? Do I start where the permalink is? or the actually recipe title that is above that? Do you need to do anything where Ingredients start? THEN where do I insert the [/recipe]? Is that at the end of the recipe. Are these the steps and page I need to use to insert for future recipes?
Sorry, it’s not easy peasy for me :-) I appreciate your help!

To add a recipe to your site, start with the [recipe] shortcode. Everything between the opening [recipe] and closing [/recipe] tags will be set apart as the recipe on your page.
This is what I did here > http://thistimethisspace.com/2014/02/28/scrumptious-avocado-pate/
Maybe seeing it will help you. -
I am just seeing your recipe (which looks delish) and not how you actually write it up.
I went to text on my recipe and added the [recipe] and [/recipe] at the end but it showed up above where my image is??? Do I also need to put it in where my recipe title is?
Could I send you my link to edit and then I could actually see what and where???
-
I always post a thumbnail image followed by up to 55 words of teaser text and then I insert the more tag.
<!--more--> [recipe title="Scrumptious Avocado Pate" servings="4-6" time="15 mins plus 4 – 6 hours chilling time (or overnight)" difficulty="easy"] falalalalalalala ... Serve the pate with the tomato wedges, kalamata olives, toasted tortilla wedges (or tortilla chips, rusks or crackers).</p> [/recipe] -
P.S. What I posted above is what’s in the Text ie. HTML editor. I just typed falalalala above here in the forum thread instead of the ingredients and instructions down to Serve …
Hope this helps.

So you initially type it up in the visual and then go into the text part and insert the short links?
Thank you for your help!!!

So if I’m getting this right:
after the image you are inserting the more tag and then follow up with the [recipe title=” Scrumptious ….. (why would you put the recipe title once again in the post?)
Here is what my Text looks like on a recipe… sorry I’m making this so difficult but I just don’t get it :-(
<img class=”size-full wp-image” id=”i-1038″ alt=”Image” src=”http://campbellgardenspeppers.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/jambalaya-31.jpg?w=650″ /><span style=”color:#000000;”>Ingredients:</span>
<span style=”color:#000000;”>6 tablespoons butter
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1/2 cup candied jalapenos, chopped
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1/2 cup yellow onions, chopped
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 large green bell pepper, seeded and julienne
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 cup celery, coarsely chopped
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 teaspoon garlic, minced
<span style=”color:#000000;”>14 oz. Kielbasa sausage, cut into 1/2 slices
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 (16 oz) can whole tomatoes, crushed with juices
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 cup chicken broth
<span style=”color:#000000;”>Creole Seasoning to taste
<span style=”color:#000000;”>2 bay leaves
<span style=”color:#000000;”>1 cup long grain rice, uncooked
<span style=”color:#000000;”>Directions:</span>
<span style=”color:#000000;”>In a large heavy pot, heat the butter over medium heat. Add the onions, bell peppers, celery, garlic and saute for about five minutes. Add the sausage and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes, chicken broth and season with salt. Add the bay leaves and rice. Cover and reduce the heat to a low simmer. Cook until the rice is tender and all the liquid is absorbed, about 25 minutes. Add the candied jalapeños and remove the bay leaves and garnish with parsley. Serve with crackers.

(why would you put the recipe title once again in the post?)
I did that to get this result which you can view in the post:
Scrumptious Avocado Pate
Servings: 4-6 Time: 15 mins plus 4 – 6 hours chilling time (or overnight) Difficulty: easy Print
Note that in the post that all appears on a single lineI am the kind of self starting learner who can be described as a give me the instructions and then I’ll work it out from there kind of learner. All I needed was the support doc I linked to in order to work this out. But even if all I knew was I had to insert
[recipe] on the first line and [recipe] on the last line I would have worked it out for myself.I acknowledge that everyone learns the way I do and I apologize but. I’m going to leave you to figure this out on your own. Do know that that doesn’t preclude another blogger or Volunteer from providing you with help in this thread.
