Reclaim Domain

  I purchased a domain last year and it auto-renewed this year in January.

  In February of this year, I decided I didn’t want it anymore and chose to cancel the auto-renewal and delete it from my site. I thought that when I was going through that process I read that I would still have access to this domain for the year following the renewal in January since I had already paid.

  Now, I’m back into my WordPress and want to use that domain again, but I don’t see an option for picking back up with it. It doesn’t look like it’s been picked up by anyone else, either. Do I still have access to it? If so, how can I reclaim it?

  When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/. If and only if you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

  I’ve tagged this thread in the sidebar with modlook for Staff attention.

  If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

  If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

  Do I still have access to it? If so, how can I reclaim it?

  thefeted.com is currently in the redemption period:

  Domain Expiration

  The good news is you can still try to recover the domain — but will need to pay an $80 redemption fee. Renewal was paid for in January so there are no additional domain costs.

  If you agree to this cost I can generate a payment request for the amount. Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back. Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.

  If you do not want to pay the fee, you can wait until the domain is released but you may not be able to get it back if it is purchased at auction during this time.

  The site in your account was deleted so if we are able to recover the domain, a site will need to be created in the same account for me to restore the domain to.

  Please let me know what you would like to do as soon as you can.
