Reclaim name of deleted blog?
-
Hi,
I had a blog named x.wordpress.com (“x” is not the real name of course) and I decided to delete it since I wanted to start on a fresh plate (wrong decision, I know).
Now I wish to re-use x.wordpress.com but that seems not possible. Is there a way I can claim my previous blog name?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Take a look at this post: https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Once a blog has been deleted, its related address is no longer available to use under any circumstance. Just to quote:
Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was owned and deleted by its original/previous owner.
If there’s any way you can think of a new, original address to restart your blog with, or a small variation on the name you were using originally, that’s probably the best option. Hope that helps :)

Hi,
Yes, saw that post too but I thought that only applied when someone other than the original creator wanted to claim the name. In this case I was the one that claimed the name originally.

The same rule still applies, whether it’s another user or the original creator of the blog.
Hope there’s some way you can work around creating a similar address to the original, though. As it stands, that’s still an option that’s open to you :)

This is a pretty ridiculous policy. I get restricting other people from showing up and claiming someone else’s old subdomain. I like that, Protect my identity/brand. Good.
But why do they think refusing to let me reclaim my own old subdomain is protecting anyone? It’s actually harming me.

There’s no need to tag this thread for Staff. The policy is what it is and it will not be changing.

P.S. If you insist on it you can always email
