reclaiming a domain name

I just canceled a domain name this morning . I want to change my current site to this domain name but it states it is not available- will it become available again any time soon?

Deleted .wordpress.com blog URLs cannot be registered again. Site deletion is a permanent and irreversible act. There are at least 3 warnings including an email verification link sent that must be clicked to delete a blog URL https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
I am sorry but you cannot register a deleted blog URL. No one can use a deleted blog URL regardless of who registered it. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here and you can confirm by reading:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/However, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

correction: I did not cancel the URL when I changed it. I wanted to use it for a different blog I have – it matches user name. Its not letting me use it again, why not?

That helps us to give you accurate advice, note above that there is a bit of confusion about what you did with the delete, the advice is different for different issues, also if we flag this for the staff to help – having all the info set out in a neat bundle helps the staff to help you quicker

Every day about 30% who post here ought to be posting to http://wordPress.ORG/support/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
