Reclaiming My Domain

  Hi there,

  My website’s domain recently expired a month ago. I’d like to renew it, and I would appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction on how to get it done. Thanks in advance!

  Oh no! Expired means over, dead, done and finished. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/ We focus on not allowing domains to expire so others can purchase them when they are auctioned off and that’s why we have an auto renew feature. https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#auto-renew

  Staff need details to recover the domain.
  1. What is the domain URL?
  2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
  3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
  4. When was the upgrade purchased?
  5. When did the refund request and upgrade cancellation, or the domain expiration take place?

  Hi there,

  Thank-you so much for getting back to me so promptly!
  Here is the following information you required.
  1. The URL is: http://www.volcanicgaming.com
  2. The underlying wordpress URL is: http://www.volcanicgamingdotcom.wordpress.com
  3. The account name is volcanicatero
  4. I originally purchased the domain in 2015 through a 3rd party. I then requested to have it mapped to WordPress. I got an expiry notification through the host in August 2016, but the website up for the rest of the year.
  5. In early January of 2017, I received a WP notification that it had expired through you guys. The exact date was January 3rd, 2017.

  Thanks for providing the details. Staff work their way through support threads tagged for their help in date stamp order serving the earliest posted first as would be expected. Please be patient while waiting.

  Hi there,

  I was able to map volcanicgaming.com for you. You’ll still need to do a few things:

  1) Purchase the subscription here by renewing:
  https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades

  2) If you haven’t done so already, point the domain to our name servers:

  ns1.wordpress.com
  ns2.wordpress.com
  ns3.wordpress.com

  3) After giving that a few hours to take effect, set the domain as primary under https://wordpress.com/my-domains
