Recommended image dimensions for Goran Theme page header

Just wondering what image size I should use for the featured image for the Goran theme. I am concerned because I want to be sure my website looks good on retina screens.

Here are the “Quick Specs” taken from the Goran theme example page”

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels)
The main column width is 700 except in the full-width layout where it’s 1086.
    A widget is 314.
Featured Images for posts are 772 wide by unlimited high.
Featured Images for pages are 1230 wide by 1230 high.

I’ve heard that you should double your image size for retina screens so does that mean that my featured image size for a page should be 2460×2460? And thus featured image size of 638 for widgets and featured image size of 1544 wide for posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I noticed that the featured image size for a page when I visit the Goran theme is only 1920 x 1271. Am I correct to assume that WordPress is serving me a smaller image because I am not using a Retina computer screen? Here is a link to the Goran feature page image.

No replies here. I’ll try in another forum.

  • Hi @monongahelamsp!

Sorry for the delay in replying. For theme-specific questions, you can sometimes get a faster response in the dedicated theme forum. (It looks like you’ve opened a different question over there already!)

You don’t need to double your image sizes for retina displays – in some cases that can be important, but here you should be fine with the recommended dimensions.

Awesome! I realized that after I posted the question that it probably would fit better in the Themes forum. Thanks for answering my question. I don’t know anybody with a 5k iMac so I have no way of telling if my website looks good on one.

  • Sadly I don’t have one either ;)
