  What is the recommended maximum image size for photos uploaded to the blog?

  Your current theme will fit a 440px image.
  Themes vary though.

  If you can, try to resize your image to 400-500px wide so it fits well in your blog template and loads fast for your visitors.

  It is becoming a big problem in my blog as well. If I change the theme all the images get screwed up. :( Is there no way to get this problem rectified. For a 800 by 600 monitor there is not many themes which can accomodate fairly viewable images.

  I decided to use 340 x 250, because after I emptied the cache the pictures on the blog loaded really slow. I think that should be ok, when you say 4-500 is ok.

  There is also a maxinum file size for uploaded images and files here at wp.com. I believe it’s 1.5megs.

  I would suggest using the thumbnail for a picture of that size and linking to it directly over putting it into a post or linking to it within a page though. With a warning. :)
