reconciling identities
-
It looks like, over time, and in trying to understand how wordpress works, I scrambled several identities. I’d like to iron it all out and shed what is not being used.
Usernames: I think I have 2 usernames
How can I get rid of one?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Here’s how to deactivate your account:
All you were required to provide to register an account here was an email address that can be replaced at any time.Any personal information that you voluntarily posted can also be removed at any time.
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click.

What are the usernames involved?
What are the email addresses involved? You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
and if required click the “Need More Help” link and complete the form for account recovery. https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery -
My issue is that I believe I have a couple of user names out there that I likely created unique passwords to. I can no longer access those usernames and I would like to change my current one to one of those. Kinda crazy and sloppy record-keeping in the past is fouling me up now that I am trying to get my ducks in a row.

I tagged this thread for Staff help with sorting this out. Delete nothing as deletion is permanent and irreversible.

Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account. Username accounts can be deactivated but not deleted (see what Iposted above).
Your https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/7620067snoopy username account has not registered any blogs.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/clarevt registered http://clareinnes.wordpress.com/ and all you have to do is use the correct log in under that account to access that blog.

Hi 7620067snoopy. If you believe the account clarevt is yours, you should be able to use that username or the email associated with that account in our password reset tool and regain access to your account. If you are unable to change your password, you can click on “Need more help?” to reach our account recovery team.
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Assuming you can regain access to the account, you cannot replace one existing username with another, but you can transfer your blog from one user account to another, or make the second account an administrator on the blog. First, though, we need to make sure you can access the account, so please follow the instructions above.
