reconfiguring IP info necessary?

I have taken on a small business hundreds of km away from where it was set up 4 years ago. I’ve read that sometimes reduced speeds and connectivity issues (gateway timeout error happens daily) can be related to a change of location. If yes, how do I look into this. If not, what are my next steps in improving the very frustrating situation I am in now.

On what site are you working? The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com.
If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, please ask for help from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums instead.
500 errors can also point to an issue with your hosting, so try contacting support at your hosting provider as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a new email address connected to the site. The previous owner of the business still owns the site and his subscription is until May (I think) 2021 so we’ve decided to run things as smoothly as possible by not messing with officially changing ownership over until then. His email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) if that helps.
We’re in Japan and I was hoping to get help in native English before having to go to my provider.
