Reconnecting to Eventbrite

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to change the Eventbrite calender on my wordpress.com site as it needs to be controlled by another users Eventbrite account. I have cancelled my previous connection but when I try to connect to the new one I dont get the option of ‘Allow’ but just ‘Create Event’. In the end I created an event to see if this would do it but no luck.

Please help- our events start next week!

    Thanks Jess

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Try logging out of your Eventbrite account completely–and, if possible, into the Eventbrite account that needs to be connected. Then try to re-establish the connection.

If you are logged into your account in the browser you are using with WordPress at the time of the reconnection, Eventbrite will be super helpful and just reconnect you to the account it thinks you want.

Let me know if you have any trouble with that.

Many thanks for your reply Liz the fair – and sorry for my slow response, due to illness.

The problem is that when I try to connect up it actually sends me to the new account but not to connect up, just to create an event. Nothing shows on the site, not even the calendar title ‘Coming Events’. Its driving me crazy!

    Thanks in advance

    Jess

The problem is that when I try to connect up it actually sends me to the new account but not to connect up, just to create an event.

Is the new account one you just created by chance?

I just tested this and the second account I used was one that hadn’t been verified yet. When I went to do the setup the first time, I went to Eventbrite, but was redirected to a page to verify the account and after that went to a “create a new event page.”

After that, I went back to WordPress.com and clicked the “connect with Eventbrite” button again and the second time it worked.

If that still doesn’t work for you, make sure the new Eventbrite account is completely up and running. Then delete the existing widget and re-add it.

Let me know if you continue to have trouble!

    Thanks again
It is a new account but it just goes straight to ‘create a new event’ . I’ve deleted and re-added the widget several times but it always goes straight to ‘create new event’.
I may have verified the account when I first opened it last week. The WordPress site clearly recognises that it is connected to the new Eventbrite account (as this is where it takes me each time) but no calendar or even its title appears in the sidebar.

I meant to add that in the widget itself the ‘Connect with Eventbrite’ button is live each time.
    Thanks

    One more thing to try.

Could you make the connection from the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. (linked below)

Sometimes the customizer gets cranky about verifying accounts.

That’s how I’ve been trying to do it – I’ll try via the customizer right now. Thanks

Thanks again Liz the fair – its just the same on the customizer – the problem isn’t that I can’t create an event but that the calendar doesn’t appear on the website.

I have tried going back to my old Eventbrite account – which had been fine before – but this doesn’t work now either.

I never get asked to verify my account, it always goes straight through to ‘create an event’ whichever account I use. And no calendar on the website.

What could be causing this? Thank you for your support so far. Jess

PS I’ve cleared all cookies and browsing history etc.

Just to let you know I have managed to reinstate the calendar from my original Eventbrite account. I don’t know how – sheer persistence I guess.
    Thank you for your help

That is so strange! Can you manage with it this way, or do we need to continue to dig into why the other account won’t connect correctly?
