Recover access
-
Dear WP team,
I created the blog Im sending years ago, but lost the access to it.
I have recovered this very same account from where I´m writing but its not the correct one. I´m afraid the original blog is using an email address that doesn´t exist anymore.
I would like to verify my identity to get access to this blog, it contains materials I need to manage for my work, and my personal branding.
Can you please tell me how to proceed?
Thank you for your time.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Unknown -
Hi there,
Hope you have already tried to reset your password form here
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordIf not, please know more details from here about resetting password
If this is not helpful you can try the Account Recovery form the below, so you’ll be contacted by email you will fill up. https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
You’ll have to provide proof to gain access for the account you own.
For that detail instructions are given here https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/Hope this helps.
Thanks. -
Thank you for your answer,
Yes, I tried the passw recovery but I go to a different account I made 1-2years later.
The one I´m trying to access probably has some corporate email attached that does not exist anymore.
Honestly I´m worried because those materials are many years old and I really can´t figure out how am I going to prove ownership unless someone takes the time to do a little due diligence.

Can we know the website url you are trying to access?
If you are unable to fill out the form, please contact Account Recovery Team directly at passwordhelp@wordpress.com. They will be able to provide options for you if you’re unable to provide any proof of ownership.
Thank you

Sorry took a while for me to answer.
I just had this conversation with James from your team.
Hope we all learn something from this whole adventure, because I never thought that deleting an email address was going to be such an issue later on.

Hello, I´m answering in a different color to your considerations:Its funny -and tragic- that the same rules you think that are “protecting” the community are actually causing harm to me.
“An email from the email address on-file for the account, which is not the one you are currently writing from. Please copy-paste the exact subject line from this message so everything stays together in our system.”
As I said, this account was registered 15 years ago with an email that does not longer exist. How am I supposed to send you any email from there?
If I buy the domain again and setup a mail server, and write you from there will that fix this issue?
Anyone can do that btw since the domain is available again.“A transaction ID from a recent paid upgrade to the account. You can see more details about this here (including details of obtaining the transaction ID without the original emailed receipt). You could check for transactions from around 2009”
As I said, there are no recent upgrades, or payments. I can´t provide something I haven´t got for a lot of years.
“A transaction ID from a recent paid upgrade to the account. You can see more details about this here (including details of obtaining the transaction ID without the original emailed receipt). You could check for transactions from around 2009”
Again, same issue. Because you assume that people keep their email addresses foerever, which is obviously not the case. I´m sure there´s more people in my situation and I really do not understand you people don´t have any protocol or processs in place to solve this thing.
“However, if there’s personal information on your site, I would be happy to set it to private, so that search engines and users can’t access it and your site will be hidden from public view. Just let me know if you want us to do that for you.”
All the contents are mine, therefore somehow it is private information because its about my work and copyrights.
I need those contents moved to my current blog and deleted from search engines.
If you can make the site go private that would certainly help and I would not have to hire a lawyer to manage this situation.Thank you for your time. L.

Hi!
I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention, and a member of the wordpress.com staff will reply shortly.
-
Hi there @luisgdelafuente – just adding that I don’t see any mention of the address of the WordPress.com website you are trying to recover. Staff will need that information if the site is not under this account you are using to post here in the community forums. Thanks.

@luisgdelafuente – We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts. Since you’re being helped via email already, I encourage you to continue the conversation there.
We cannot advise or help with account recovery issues on the public support forums so please avoid further public discussion and someone from Staff will respond to your email message in due course.
We will close this thread for now since you’re already being helped over email.
