Recover accidentally deleted site

Is it possible to recover a site you owned but deleted accidentally? Or once deleted, it is gone forever? Even though it’s been a few hours since it was deleted.

Deleting a site here is no accident. One has to ignore multiple warnings to accomplish site deletion. Simply stated you can’t register any deleted blog URL because deleting any blog URL is a permanent and irreversible act, just as the multiple warnings required to accomplish site deletion clearly state. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

I re-read the warning and had missed that the blog address is gone forever for everyone. Unfortunately I assumed a deleted site would go into re circulation just like a domain name.
Should’ve thought it through. So the only other option short of domain mapping would be to move yo a different platform where the name is available, correct?

Thanks again. I already own the domain name, and really wanted blog with the same name.
Still kicking myself for deleting it idiotically.
