Recover Atavist Account
-
How do we recover our Atavist projects?
We didn’t know the site was shutting down and don’t have any emails/communication from Atavist on how to get our content we created on their platform. Thanks!

Hi @ndudasthomaswunc, would you be willing to send a link to the site? We’ll check to see what can be done.
EDIT: Please see this thread for current information:

I also lost my atavist content! I received no communication that the site would be shut down. How do I recover what was lost?? It was a full oral history archive of a woman who has since passed away — I’m very anxious that I’ve lost all the content without the opportunity to save it before the site shut down!

Our organization was notified that Atavist was shutting down. We attempted to contact [redacted] a while ago to ensure that we could recover all of our files. This is extremely important as all of our annual reports were hosted on Atavist. To date, we still haven’t heard back from anyone, which led us to completing another form. Any support to expedite this process in recovering these documents would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @thoughtcentre – I’ve sent you an email to the address on file for your WordPress.com account.

We are contacting you because we have a problem since Atavist closed over a month ago. We received in the spam the message informing about the closure and the import to WordPress of the contents. The problem is that we did not find the message until April 8, when the platform was already closed and it has not been possible to migrate the 4journalism.uoc.edu account, which is the one used by our students. The most urgent thing would be to get the contents worked on by the students. Can you provide us with help in this regard? We would appreciate any help you could not provide. Thank you very much.

Same here @supernovia
I’ve been waiting on the actual recovered content since your last email 5 days ago.
-
@vrosemarshall and @ndudasthomaswunc – you need to wait for the Atavist team to reply to your email. These exports take some time and they work in the order in which they’re received.
We also can’t provide a time estimate as to how long this will take, but someone will reply to the email when they have the export file ready.
Hope that clarifies things.

For anyone new arriving at this thread, you can now self-request an export of your Atavist account by submitting your information to this Google Form.
@ndudasthomaswunc, @jmedlin7c9e4b7f22, @vrosemarshall, @edcannetwork, and @lisbalcells – you’re already in their system, so they’ll continue proceeding with your requests over email.Thank you!

I am also looking to recover content from an Atavist page. My Atavist site was hosted through my university’s account – so I never received notice that the site would be disappearing. Is there someone I can reach out to directly to recover the data? Thanks.
