Recover Deleted Domain

    Hello –
    We recently deleted an expired domain that had been attached to our WP site. This was about 9-10 days ago.
    Now, we’re being asked if we can recover the domain. From what I’d read, it seemed like after 5 days, sites that had been registered via WordPress would be released for purchase so, we were just going to re-buy it (hopefully). Anyway, as I mentioned, its been almost 10 days and when I do a lookup for the domain, it shows that it’s still registered.
    If I check the WhoIs info on it, it’s all blank so it doesn’t appear someone has purchased it already. So, I’m guessing it hasn’t actually been released from WP.
    Can anyone tell me how long before a deleted domain is released for purchase. Or, is there some way to recover it via WordPress.

    Hi there,

    I checked, and adstitching.com is now in a redemption period. The charge is a $80 late renewal fee in addition to the charge to renew the domain. Please confirm here if you agree to pay the fees and I will begin the domain restoration process along with providing a manual payment.

    That only pertains to domains that were canceled within 5 days of registration. All other domains that are canceled go through the redemption process.

    Thanks for the response. Can you tell me how long the redemption process lasts? And did it start from the day the domain was deleted?

    After relaying the information about recovery to the team, they seem content to wait for the domain to become available again and try to re-purchase it.

    Hey @bmtmadmin,

    The domain redemption period generally lasts around 30 days and begins when the domain registration period ends.

    Please note that if the domain expires, it may be impossible to recover. Anyone will be able to register once it is available.
