Recover Domain in Redemption

Trying to recover the domain name associated with this account for a client that allowed it to expire. Says it’s still in redemption period. How can we recover it?

Hey there,
I confirmed that islhsvb.com is now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.
Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.
I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

Can you tell me what day we’re in of the 80 days? I’ve already place a backorder request for the domain as soon as it becomes available. Waiting for that route seems much more affordable than the $126 to recover here and still prefer to transfer away from WordPress.com as soon as we recover it. Thank you.

Whois Data is stating the domain expired on 9/26, so about 57 days. Again, 80 days is an approximate amount of time, and that it is assuming no one picks up the domain during auction or registers the domain before you. So, I would definitely keep an eye on the domain status as the day approaches and try to register it when it comes available.

They’re not release for auction prior to being released to public in order for me grab the domain with the backorder request are they?

Yes, during this time someone can bid on the expired domain and if they win, you will lose it. The likelihood of this happening is unpredictable. But, it is indeed a risk.
