HI there! I have suddenly realised my domain name has expired and my site / blog is down. It is in redemption. How should I proceed to get this up and running again.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

    Hi guiheadz

Your domain name can still be renewed, but there is an $80.00 redemption fee required in addition to the normal renewal cost.

For more information on domain redemption here is the support document link:

    Domain Expiration

I am also tagging this post as ‘modlook’ for staff attention please wait for some time they will also get back to you on this.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Dan,

guiheads.com expired on 8th July 2018. This domain can no longer be renewed through your account so I will need to contact our domain registrar and make a request for it to be restored.

As @shubhamgmath mentioned, if the domain enters the redemption period between now and then, $80 redemption fee will need to be paid in addition to the domain cost — our registrar will let me know whether this will be needed.

I’ve sent a payment request for the domain cost to the email address on your Account Settings page and will contact our registrar once the payment has come through.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Gemmacevans!

OK – got that email and have paid.

Could you let me know how long this process might take? I am trying to figure out how I’m going to run some of my business affairs while my website is down.

    Thanks,

    Dan.

Thanks, I’ve contacted our registrar and will let you know as soon as I receive a reply — this usually takes 1-2 business days.

  • Hi there!

Just letting you know your domain is now active on your site once again!

If you need any additional help, let us know!

    Cheers!

    Ah! Thanks so much! Yay!

But… when I go to guiheadz.com it still has that ‘parked’ screen. I guess I have to go set some stuff up again now huh?

Any instructions on what I now need to do?

    Thanks,

    Dan.

Hi there, I’m seeing your site now with guiheads.com as the domain name, so it looks like you got this sorted out.

If you have further questions or problems, please let us know.

    Hi There!

Ah – we have an encountered a bit of a problem.

The website / domain I wanted to register is actually guiheadZ.com (note the letter ‘z’ not ‘s’). From memory I also bought guiheads.com previously and had it redirect to the main site at Guiheadz.com.

The domain we have now re-registered though is only guiheads.com (with an ‘s’). My tech help here says I need the original Guiheadz.com to get my website code working again. I am happy to pay for this – but doing this as soon as possible is really important right now – could we please repeat this process and we register guiheadz.com? (With a ‘z’)

    Thanks,

    D.

  • The website / domain I wanted to register is actually guiheadZ.com (note the letter ‘z’ not ‘s’). From memory I also bought guiheads.com previously and had it redirect to the main site at Guiheadz.com.

I’ve emailed our domain provider to try and get the Guiheadz.com domain back for you. Do you still want guiheads.com as well, or should we cancel that domain instead? If you keep both domains we will need to send you a payment link for the second domain’s renewal as well.

  • Unknown's avatar

    HI!

I’d like to keep both. Please send another payment link…

    Thanks,

    D.

  • Done :)

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear back from our domain provider.

    Ok. So the latest:

My proper site is all up and working again. yay!

    Guiheadz.com is fixed!

(Phew – such a relief – having my professional website go down in the middle of hustling new works is a nightmare).

But… at the moment when I go to Guiheads.com (with an ‘s’) it just displays the wierd half built wordpress version. What I would like to do is that Guiheads.com (with an ‘s’) redirects to Guiheadz.com (with a ‘z’).

IS this something I have to set up?

Also – I don’t think you’ve sent me a link to pay for the second domain yet. did you?

    Thanks (again) for any help.

    D.

  • It’s working again because the domain has been reactivated at our domain provider, but it had not yet been restored to your account, which is why you couldn’t change the primary domain. I’ve now restored that as well, so you’ll now see the domain listed if you go to My Site ->Domains.

I did send the payment link, but in case the email didn’t go through I’ve just resent it to the email address connected to your WordPress.com account.

    Ah terrific!

Ok – so everything is back up and running perfectly now. Guiheads.com (with an s) is redirecting to Guiheadz.com (with a z) and it’s all looking hunky dory.

Got the payment request and have paid.

Thanks everyone for all your help with this – and while I find a forum with multiple people handling my problem a very weird way of going about this – it’s actually all worked out quite efficiently.

    Thanks again gang.

    D.

  • We’ve received your payment, thank you.

To avoid this happening again next year, please consider enabling auto-renew on the domains. You can do that by adding a payment method to each domain individually on the Purchases page:

    https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

    Happy we could help :)
